A market research company examined the smartphone sales figures in January 2021. Apple dominates the list, occupying six places in the top 10. However, a current model disappoints, while a 2019 iPhone places it in the top 10. highest on the list.

Market research company Counterpoint Research examined the global smartphone sales figures in January 2021. The result is quite impressive for Apple, because the iPhone occupies the first four places of the study and can be positioned in the top 10 a total of six times. But there is also a disappointment, because while the top three places are held by the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max and accounted for 71 percent of iPhone sales, the iPhone 12 Mini only ranks eighth.

Counterpoint Research notes that the delayed launch of the iPhone last year pushed demand into the new year, boosting sales again in January. Apple is particularly successful in the US market, with nearly a third of 5G iPhones sold over the counter there.
Also, the iPhone 11 is positive, it ranks fourth and is even ahead of the iPhone 12 Mini. The mini offers the same features as the larger version of the iPhone 12, but it has to make up for the lower price with a smaller screen and lower battery capacity. There’s a little surprise at 10th place, where the 2020 iPhone SE can apparently take advantage of its predecessor’s popularity and continues to sell well.
Apple’s biggest competitors from Xiaomi and Samsung
Two budget smartphones from Xiaomi were able to secure fifth and sixth place on the list, the Redmi 9 and the even cheaper version of the Redmi 9A are particularly impressive due to their price-performance ratio.

Samsung sells a large number of Galaxy A21S and Galaxy A31 in January. They occupy the seventh and ninth place respectively in the ranking. These models are also among the cheapest smartphones.
